The electorate of Parkes covers 406,755 sq km – more than half of New South Wales.

The North-West NSW electorate includes the Bland, Bogan, Bourke, Brewarrina, Broken Hill, Central Darling, Cobar, Coonamble, Forbes, Gilgandra, Gunnedah, Lachlan, Moree, Narrabri, Narromine, Parkes, Walgett, Warren and the Warrumbungle shires, as well as the Unincorporated Far West Region and part of Dubbo Shire.

Jamie Chaffey is the fifth Federal Member for Parkes since its inception in 1984.

This vibrant and diverse electorate was named in honour of Sir Henry Parkes, a statesman who advocated for electoral and constitutional reform in the colony and land reform. He is known as the “Father of Federation”.
