Federal Member for Parkes Jamie Chaffey says he is pleased to have been advised that three organisations within the Parkes electorate have been successful in their applications to the Saluting Their Service Commemorative Grants Program.
“The Saluting Their Service Commemorative Grants Program offers grants for projects and activities that commemorate the service and sacrifice of Australia’s military personnel in wars, conflicts and peace operations,” Mr Chaffey said.
“This is an important program that allows community organisations to progress projects that pay tribute to the people who have served their country and brought pride to their communities. These projects can provide an important focus for people to reflect, remember and thank those who have served.”
The successful applicants are:
- Bland Shire Council – $8,386 towards a project to restore the inscriptions of fallen soldiers’ names on the central monument and entrance memorial plaques at Tallimba Memorial Park
- RSL of Australia Parkes Sub-Branch – $10,000 towards a project to refurbish and relocate the memorabilia area at the Parkes Sub-Branch
- RSL of Australia Walgett Sub-Branch – $10,000 towards a project to restore the Lightning Ridge War Memorial at the Walgett Sub-Branch.
“I congratulate these three organisations for their successful applications and thank them for the work they are doing in ensuring our communities never forget the sacrifices of servicemen and women.”
